Description: Indian Irul, also known as Terminalia elliptica, is a hardwood tree species native to India. The wood of the Irul tree is highly valued for its strength, durability, and attractive appearance. It is known for its dark brown to reddish-brown color with a fine and even texture.
The bark and wood of the irul tree are a source of tannins, and the trunk produces a red resin. The seeds are edible and the tree is considered medicinal in India.
Irul trees can grow up to 25–40 meters tall and have a straight, cylindrical bole. They grow fairly rapidly when young.
